Jersey City is planning to utilize artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology to modernize systems across the city in an “ethical” way, likely starting in the local police department, Mayor James Solomon and Acting Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose have confirmed.
“We are considering that,” Ambrose told HCV and other reporters in response to questions if the public safety modernization would include the use of AI programs and systems in the JCPD and the Public Safety Department at a presser on a police reorganization.
Afterwards, Solomon confirmed that not only was the JCPD and the Public Safety Department considering the use of AI-based technology, but the city at large.
He said that soon his administration will establish a committee to contemplate how to best use AI to increase safety in Jersey City, but also streamline other municipal functions…
