MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — A man who pleaded guilty in the 2022 New Year’s Eve mass shooting in downtown Mobile appeared in court Friday for sentencing on state murder and assault charges. The shooting happened in a crowded section of Dauphin Street, leaving one person dead and nine others injured. Thomas Thomas, 25, is already serving a 10-year federal prison sentence for using a machine gun conversion device, commonly known as a Glock switch, during the shooting.
“Thomas does have a bifurcated sentencing hearing. That means it’s being done in two parts. The state presented some facts, a little bit of argument.
