City to Explore Possibility of Eminent Domain at Heights Hospital Site

Mayor James Solomon, Ward D City Councilman Jake Ephros, and Ward C Councilman Tom Zuppa announced late Friday that the Jersey City Council will vote on a resolution authorizing the Planning Board to investigate whether the Heights University Hospital site can be designated as an area in need of redevelopment with the power of condemnation — a necessary first step that would give the city new tools, potentially including eminent domain — to ensure medical services return to the neighborhood.
