TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver accused of hitting and killing a man in a wheelchair last year in west Toledo has been charged with vehicular homicide for the incident, according to court records.
The charges were filed against Dean Riley, 56, in Toledo Municipal Court on Friday. He has been ordered to make his initial appearance in court on April 6.
According to an affidavit, Riley was driving on West Alexis Road in the morning of July 24, 2025, when he tried to pass another vehicle. He then hit Gary Barnett, 75, from behind, who was in a motorized wheelchair and traveling the the same direction in the roadway…
