University Heights mayor outlines ‘26 goals in first term

University Heights Mayor Michele Weiss, believed to be the first Orthodox Jewish woman to hold the position of mayor in the United States and who began her term on Jan. 1, hosted a State of the City address on March 17 at the University Heights Public Library, where she stressed the importance of teamwork and laid out several city projects for residents in attendance.

Weiss said one of her administration’s high priorities is finding new revenue streams for the city, which has limited resources.

“On day one, I hired a grant coordinator to do just that, and it’s not just any grant coordinator, but former councilwoman Sue Pardee, who intimately knows our community and wants it to succeed,” Weiss, a former councilwoman and resident of University Heights for 28 years, said during her presentation. “She has been working tirelessly to attain this vision, and we already are seeing results.”…
