A Columbia-area fire station built in 1971 is temporarily closing; crews are relocating

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Crews at one Columbia-area fire station will temporarily relocate following a recent inspection of the decades-old facility.

Columbia-Richland Fire officials said Station 14 on Firelane Road in Dentsville was built in 1971 and currently houses crews for Engine 14 and Ladder 14.

Authorities haven’t elaborated on what specifically led to the decision to relocate; however, they said the crews would work out of neighboring stations “until a long-term resolution” is provided for the current facility.
