Ames reducing lanes at South 4th Street to prepare for construction of pedestrian facilities

AMES, Iowa — The City of Ames is reducing lanes for eastbound traffic of South 4th Street between University Boulevard and Ioway Creek, near Jack Trice Stadium.

Lanes will be reduced for about one to two weeks as the city said it will be removing trees, weather permitting, beginning March 23.

This is part of the first phase of a construction project for a pedestrian bridge and shared-use path. City officials expect the shared-use path to open in late April or early May and the pedestrian bridge to open in winter 2026 or spring 2027…
