Latino leader sparking changes after new allegations against Cesar E. Chavez

LUBBOCK, Texas — “So very sad, but what do I do?” said City Councilwoman, Christy Martinez-Garcia, after taking down her portrait of once beloved civil rights activist, Cesar E. Chavez.

The New York Times published an article on Wednesday, March 18, that showed evidence and testimonies from girls who had advocated along side him and experienced prolonged sexual abuse by Chavez, as well as fellow civil rights activist, Dolores Huerta, also coming forward.
