AUSTIN, Texas — A Lake Travis Fire Rescue firefighter was honored at Rodeo Austin for a rescue that saved the life of a fellow firefighter during a house fire.
Firefighter Daniel Bachmeyer was recognized for his actions during a residential fire after a firefighter fell through a collapsed stairwell. According to the department, Bachmeyer pressed forward, knocked down the flames and made a decision to breach a wall to reach the trapped firefighter.
