Man enters plea in case involving teen found dead on Pajarito Mesa

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –  A third person arrested in connection to the shooting death of a teen who’s body was found on the Pajarito Mesa entered a plea in court on Friday.

Daniel Medrano Garcia, 19, pled no contest to multiple charges, including first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm enhancement, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the death of 16-year-old Jesus Quintana Cota.

In May 2024, Mariana Gomez lured Quintana Cota out on a date. Gomez, Medrano Garcia, and Dominik Marques, kidnapped Quintana Cota and took him to the Pajarito Mesa, where he was shot and killed. The teen’s body was later discovered by someone passing through the area.

Medrano Garcia faces more than two decades in prison for his part in the crime, according to the Bernalillo County district attorney…
