A Longmont police officer fatally shot a woman Thursday afternoon after she allegedly brandished a firearm.
Longmont Police Department officers responded at about 4:15 p.m. to the 1500 block of East Third Avenue after receiving a report of a suicidal woman, according to a Longmont Public Safety Department Facebook post. After speaking with the woman, the post said the woman discharged a firearm inside her garage as officers were leaving the scene, leading them to attempt to re-establish contact with her.
Police tried negotiating with her to exit the garage unarmed, and the department also said there was a large police presence at the home at about 5:15 p.m…
