⚠️ Wastewater Spill Reported at Kāneʻohe Tunnel Facility

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services is responding to a wastewater spill at the Kāneʻohe Tunnel Influent Facility following heavy rain on March 20, 2026. Around 2:00 p.m., high inflow and infiltration caused two manholes to overflow into Kawa Stream. Crews are on-site monitoring and assessing the situation. Once the weather clears, warning signs will be posted and water quality testing will begin. Residents should stay out of Kawa Stream and nearby waterways until the warning signs are removed.
