Navy veteran receives 4-year sentence for assault and abduction of ex-wife

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Callahan Kessler, a 25-year-old former Navy sailor, was recently sentenced to serve four years for the assault of malicious wounding, strangling, and abduction of his ex-wife.

His ex-wife, the victim, ran away from Virginia to escape Kessler’s abuse in 2024, according to a press release.

Kessler returned to his Princeton Avenue home after a night out and argued with the victim. During the altercation, Kessler shoved the victim against a counter, strangled her, and threw her down the basement steps. He forced the victim outside onto the back porch and continued to push her and block her from the door…
