RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — Dr. James M. Thompson has filed as a candidate for Richland County Council District 11, with a background in education, workforce development, and community engagement.
Thompson is a lifelong Richland County resident, an ordained minister, husband, and father of three children who attend public schools in Richland County School District One.
He began his career as a science teacher and later led a federally funded $3 million GEAR-UP program in rural Lancaster County, where he helped students prepare for college and careers and secured grants for community organizations.
