Shippensburg man charged with child endangerment after allegedly smoking crack with 1-year-old home

SHIPPENSBURG- Police have charged a Shippensburg man with a trio of charges after allegedly finding him passed out with drugs around him….and a child nearby. Zachary Lee Keefer remains incarcerated in Cumberland County Prison on $35,000 bail after being charged with felony endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Around 4am on March 18th, Pennsylvania State Police say they were called to a home in the 1000 block of Deerfield Commons, Southampton Township for a reported man with crack cocaine around him and passed out. Troopers say that the man, Zachary Keefer, was found asleep on the home’s couch with a crack pipe and small bag of crack cocaine lying next to him. On a nearby kitchen floor, they say, two more baggies were found with suspected crack inside of them.

Keefer would allegedly share the apartment with the victims, an adult woman and her 1-year-old child, with the latter confirmed to be home at the time of the incident. Keefer had to be woken up by police, the latter say, with him appearing to be visibly intoxicated. Additionally, police say they found three burnt copper scouring pads in his pocket, consistent with drug use…
