SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) β The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced new updates in their Temple Square Renovation, including the installation of art glass and the removal of scaffolding.
Temple Square and the Salt Lake Temple have been undergoing a renovation since 2019, in order to install seismic-proof upgrades and reinforce the buildings. After several years of construction, the Church has hit several big milestones and is now focusing on finishing touches.
As of this week, all scaffolding around the Salt Lake Temple has been entirely removed, after several weeks of work. The scaffolding helped protect the templeβs spires during construction.
Crews have also removed the south tower crane, which has been used to move large stones, mechanical systems, and structural components over the last five-and-a-half years.
Besides the external updates, the Church also says that they have installed glass planes in temple entrance buildings on Temple Square. The glass depicts several religious scenes, including Jesus Christ ministering to children and appearing to Mary Magdalene after the resurrection…
