This Hawaiian spot officially closed its Beaverton cafe — but another is on the way

A small chain of Portland-area Hawaiian restaurants is closing its cafe in the suburbs.

Once a bustling food cart in downtown Portland, 808 Grinds quadrupled its presence over the past decade and a half. Though the original cart is no longer operating, the brand has served authentic Hawaiian fare out of three brick-and-mortar restaurants — in Beaverton, Hillsboro and, most recently, Northeast Portland — along with a cart at Gigantic Brewing’s southeast taproom.

One of those storefronts closed this week, but another is already on the way…
