The Return of a Bowling Spectacle: Reno Hosts Thousands

The National Bowling Stadium in Reno has once again become the epicenter of a major sporting event as the Championships, which started last week, are set to continue until July 19. This year marks an anticipated high in participation, with over 55,000 bowlers expected, a figure not seen since 2011.

Reno has a storied history with the tournament, having hosted it 15 times since 1977, more than any other location. The event is poised to inject a substantial economic boost into the local economy, with officials projecting over $84 million in spending. Much of this economic activity is attributed to the prolonged visits from participants and their accompanying families.

Aaron Smith, spokesperson for the United States Bowling Congress, remarked on the ongoing partnership between the event and the city. “We’ve been here regularly dating back to 1977, so we know what Reno brings as a host city. The city also understands what bowlers bring to the community. That combination makes it a strong partnership, one we’re excited to extend through 2038.”…
