HDOT director warns of more road damage after storm

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Many roads are being torn up by the heavy rains and officials expect to find more problems as the storm subsides.

KHON2 crews were with the state transportation director, Ed Sniffen, as he was out helping to assess the damage on the North Shore.

He was notified of a large sinkhole on the Waialua-bound side of Farrington Highway near Otake Camp. The hole was about 15 feet long.

Sniffen says the back-to-back heavy storm systems turned small problems into big problems.

Sniffen said another area of concern is Waimea Bay, which suffered another landslide next to the one earlier in the week.
