Violent Encounter at Boston MBTA Station Leaves Six Hospitalized, Suspect in Custody

Boston, MA – A chaotic scene unfolded at the Forest Hills MBTA station in Jamaica Plain on Friday when a man armed with a butcher knife threatened passengers, a bus driver, and attempted to slash bus tires, sparking a large-scale police response and resulting in six people being transported to area hospitals.

The incident began around 11:15 a.m. when MBTA Transit Police received reports of the suspect’s aggressive behavior at the upper busway level of the busy transit hub, located at the intersection of Washington Street and Hyde Park Avenue.

Officers already on scene quickly intervened, leading to a physical struggle with the knife-wielding individual. During the altercation, one officer’s firearm discharged—though no one was struck by gunfire—and the suspect was ultimately subdued and taken into custody.
