Charleston County School District to host food drive supporting TSA workers

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Former North Charleston mayor, in partnership with Charleston County School District superintendent, will host a community food and essentials drive to support Transportation Security Administration workers affected by the ongoing partial government shutdown.

Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items as well as essential household goods, including detergent, hand towels, cleaning products, toiletries and personal hygiene items. All donations will go directly to TSA employees at Charleston International Airport who have continued to work without pay to ensure safe and efficient travel for the public.

“Having served on the board for Charleston International Airport, I feel a deep responsibility to support the dedicated men and women of TSA during this challenging time,” Keith Summey, former North Charleston Mayor said. “These individuals show up every day to keep travelers safe, and it’s important that we come together as a community to support them and their families.”…
