This Day in History: March 22, 1961: City of Goose Creek established

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) — It has now been 65 years since the City of Goose Creek was officially incorporated as a town.

Nearly 500 residents voted in favor of the move on March 22, 1961. The purpose of this was to bring order to an area with rapid residential growth and provide services like sanitation.

In the early 1670s, the region of Goose Creek became known as home to the “Goose Creek Men.” These men established a trade route with the Native Americans, trading goods ranging from cloth to guns and ammunition…
