Guthrie Family Issues Urgent New Plea as Mother’s Disappearance Nears Two Months

Tucson, AZ – As the search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie enters its eighth week, her children, including “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, have released a new and heartfelt statement, directly appealing to the southern Arizona community for information that could lead to her safe return. The family’s plea was shared during a special KVOA News 4 Tucson broadcast, “Bring Her Home: The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie,” which aired on Saturday, March 21.

The statement, signed by “The Guthrie Family” – Camron and Kristine, Annie and Tommaso, and Savannah and Michael – expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support from neighbors and friends. However, it also underscored their belief that a member of the community holds the key to resolving the case.

“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now,” the statement read. “We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case.”

The family urged residents to diligently search their memories, camera footage, journal notes, text messages, and conversation logs, particularly focusing on three critical periods: the late evening of January 11, January 31, and the early morning hours of February 1. “Someone knows something,” the statement continued.

“It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant… No detail is too small.

It may be the key.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, when relatives dropped her off at her Tucson home following a family meal. Her disappearance was reported the following day when she failed to attend a scheduled church gathering, prompting an immediate search operation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD).

Investigators currently believe Mrs. Guthrie was abducted during the night, a theory supported by surveillance video showing a masked individual at her front entrance. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated in a March 12 interview that authorities have a strong theory regarding the motive.

“We believe we know why [the kidnapper] did this and we believe that it was targeted, but we’re not 100% sure of that,” Nanos stated. “I think day one, we had some strong beliefs about what happened, and those beliefs haven’t diminished.” No additional details about the suspected motive have been disclosed.

This latest appeal follows previous video messages from Savannah Guthrie and her siblings, who have also offered a substantial $1.2 million reward for information leading to their mother’s whereabouts.

The family’s statement concluded with a poignant expression of their anguish and unwavering hope. “We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home.

We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home.

We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest.

Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing,” they implored.

As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, the family and local authorities remain hopeful that a piece of information from the community will finally bring her home.
