A solo electric bike crash at an east San Jose intersection left a teenage rider dead and another juvenile injured on Thursday, marking the city’s seventh traffic death of 2026, authorities said.

According to a press release from the San José Police Department, officers responded Thursday to a report of a solo electric bicycle collision at the intersection of Remington Way and Allenwood Drive in east San Jose.

Police said the bike, identified as a Magnum Cosmo electric bicycle, was being operated by a juvenile who suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A juvenile male passenger on the bike sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner will release the deceased rider’s identity at a later time, according to the department.
