EAST LANSING, Mich. — The South Christian Sailors knew they would be in for a dog fight when they put their 27-0 record up against another undefeated team in the Division 2 state semifinal game.
The 27-0 Goodrich Martians proved to be just as good as advertised, jumping out to an early lead and beating the Sailors 47-41 at the Breslin Center.
“They’re just, they’re good all around. Pressure defense pushed us out a little bit. We couldn’t get into our normal dribble drive where we could turn the corner and get into the paint in a little bit tonight. We weren’t seeing the post as well as we probably could have, which would then probably opened up our outside shots a little more. Made that go a little better for us,” said South Christian Coach Erika Brown. “They’re a tough team. They play well together. We are too, though, and I think tonight we just, we just met a match that we couldn’t, unfortunately, be on the other side of tonight.”…
