Charges dismissed in shooting scare where bullet whizzed past woman’s head

A district justice dismissed charges against two hunters who were accused of shooting a bullet that went over the head of a woman who was standing in her East Donegal Township backyard.

Mount Joy District Judge Michael D. Hess dismissed the reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct charges that had been filed against Karen Lynn Gaus and George W. Williams at a preliminary hearing Friday.

In a preliminary hearing, prosecutors must present sufficient evidence that a crime was committed, and that the person charged probably is responsible and, therefore, that a jury or judge should hear the case at the county court level…
