KNOXVILLE — Walters State battled winter weather on Monday and Tuesday in the Pellissippi State Invitational at Willow Creek Golf Club. Due to the weather, the tournament was shortened to a 27-hole event. As a team, the Senators finished in third place at 23-over.
Leading the way was Maddox Butler, finishing at three-over. Butler battled the cold, rain, ice and snow during his first 18 holes but still managed to shoot a two-over, 74. Butler had six birdies in the round, on holes one, four, five, eight, 12 and 15. Butler shot one-over on the final nine holes.
Playing as an individual, Hawkins County’s Austin Williams (Volunteer) shot 11-over. He was seven-over in his opening round, with birdies on holes 8 and 18. Williams shot four-over on the final nine holes…
