Monroe school community mourns 10-year-old’s death

In a letter from Superintendent Andrew Shaw, on Friday, March 20, Monroe Public Schools families were notified of the death of Noah, a student at Cantrick School. Through written correspondence, the district had been made aware of the 10-year-old’s critical condition the previous day.

β€œI am deeply saddened to share that we received word that he passed this afternoon. Noah was a fifth grade student at Cantrick School and had siblings in our district. Our hearts are with the entire family and all who knew and loved Noah,” Shaw said in the letter. β€œThere are no words to express the loss of a young person who had his whole life ahead of him. As we grieve together, our focus as a district is to provide support to our students and staff. Extra members of our district social emotional team, as well as MCISD team members, will be present at Cantrick on Monday to address additional needs for support.”

Shaw said counselors and social workers are available to any student or staff wishing to speak with someone at school and encouraged parents to talk to their children and discuss the feelings they are experiencing as an important part of the healing process…
