The Mississippi University for Women track and field team competed Saturday at the Belhaven Invitational in Jackson, Mississippi. The meet was non-scoring but saw the Owls set four school records and earn two event wins.
Junior Hannah Owens led the women’s team with a victory in the 5,000-meter run. She clocked in at 20:11.94, surpassing her previous school record of 20:29.51 set earlier this season. Owens’ performance also set a MUW record, according to school officials.
In the women’s javelin, Arie’Onna McCallum threw 35.96 meters to win the event. She also finished fifth in both the discus and hammer throw. Other notable women performers included Ariella Jones, who took second in the long jump at 5.25 meters; Hali Sinegal, second in the triple jump at 10.51 meters; and Brooklyn Kelley, third in the shot put at 10.94 meters…
