Spokane honors Otto Zehm on 20 year anniversary

SPOKANE, Wash. — It’s been 20 years to the day since Spokane Police Officers held down and beat Otto Zehm, a mentally disabled man, in a North Spokane gas station. He died two days later.

Tonight, the community’s rallying together to honor his life and changes in police accountability that have happened since.

His face, name and the life cut short is what the Washington Coalition for Police Accountability wants the Spokane community to remember after Zehm’s death. The organization held a memorial for him at Mission Park on Friday, March 20, the 20 year anniversary of his passing…
