HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Oahu’s top emergency officials commended the Oahu community for coming together and protecting their own when it mattered the most.
“There’s just so much goodwill that was done during a very difficult period, and of course, pride. Pride for our city team, especially our first responders,” Mayor Blangiardi said. “Just pure heroism over and over again.”

During a press conference, Mayor Blangiardi said there were more than 200 rescues, but he’s most grateful that there were no fatalities.
