March is continuing its up-and-down weather. The ice on a small pond in our yard had recently melted, but as I’m writing this it’s once again frozen. Grasses all around it, though, are green, a visible promise of what’s to come.
Another such promise was visible on a recent trip down into Bucks County. In front of one house, a whole row of daffodils was blooming, although I’m guessing that some homes around here also have daffodils in bloom. Most of mine are just now putting up shoots or forming buds.
What I am unfortunately seeing in the yard, though, are garlic mustard plants. These aren’t the same as garlic grass and really don’t look anything like it. They’re biennials, meaning they don’t bloom until their second year…
