Popular St. Patrick’s 5K sells out race spots, but party will be open to all in Allentown

Nearly 900 runners from across the country and beyond will transform Allentown’s West End into a festive sea of green Sunday when the sold-out West End St. Patrick’s 5K returns for its 16th year.

The race will start at noon in the 2300 block of Liberty Street in front of Memorial Hall, with 894 registered participants representing 10 states and three countries. The course mirrors the annual Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade route, which follows the race.

Registration has closed for the event, but spectators are encouraged to line the streets and cheer on runners, most of whom wear festive gear to showcase their Irish spirit. Adding to the celebration, personalized race bibs “Irishize” every surname by adding an “O’” prefix…
