Sailfish bite strong leading up to cold front

Looks like another cold front will move into South Florida this weekend. It’s too early to know how much it will affect our weather and fishing. Check out the latest marine weather forecast before heading out.

The offshore bite hadn’t changed much since last week. The sailfish bite has been consistent. A few kingfish, blackfin tuna, wahoo, cobia, bonitos, barracuda and Mahi continue to keep fishermen busy in between sailfish bites. The sailfish have been biting from the Diamonds south to Carysfort Light. The best action is coming from the outer reef out to 300 feet of water.

The current rips, artificial reefs and the edge of the Gulf Stream have produced the best action. Kite fishing is catching the most sails and getting the strikes from the other free swimmers. Live frisky baits like goggle eye jacks, small bluerunners, pilchards, threadfin herrings and cigar minnows have produced the most bites. Slow drifting these live baits from your stern, or side of your boat, has resulted in similar action…
