Lorain County officer charged for illegal inmate search

A Lorain County corrections officer, Lori Blaze, is facing six misdemeanor charges after allegedly performing an illegal body cavity search on an inmate last November. Investigators say the search, which was done without a warrant, was over a bar of soap found in the inmate’s cell while she was on suicide watch.

Audio from the cell reportedly captured Blaze instructing the inmate to squat and spread, contradicting her claim that she only performed a pat-down. Under Ohio law, body cavity searches require a warrant unless there’s a medical emergency…
