WILMINGTON, N.C. (WDTN) – Dayton junior guard De’Shayne Montgomery eclipsed 1,000 career points as he propelled the Flyers to an 80-61 win over UNC Wilmington in the second round of the NIT.
Montgomery finished with 20 points and three steals, helping Dayton to its first NIT quarterfinal appearance since 2010, when it won the championship.
The Flyers will face the winner between No. 1 Wake Forest and Illinois State, who play in the second round on Sunday. If Wake Forest wins, Dayton will travel back to North Carolina to face the Demon Deacons…
