Michigan’s historic, deadly tornadoes: What we know, one week later

UNION CITY, MI — One week after deadly tornadoes rocked Southwest Michigan, communities are starting to piece together what recovery will look like.

The scars are still evident. This week in Union City, construction crews were in the Tuttle Road area with excavators clearing trees and the wreckage of homes. The smell of smoke lingered in the air as they burned fallen trees.

There were four tornadoes on March 6: an EF1 in Edwardsburg, EF2 in Three Rivers, EF0 in Calhoun County and EF3 in Union City. Four people were killed, making March 6 Michigan’s deadliest day of tornadoes in 46 years…
