Clathrus ruber fungus found in local gardens

The Sonoma County Master Gardeners shared information about Clathrus ruber, also known as the Basket Stinkhorn or Lattice Stinkhorn. This red, lattice-like fungus grows from white ‘eggs’ in mulch and gives off a strong odor that attracts flies to spread its spores.
