Iowa – Wind pushes across open fields and city streets this morning, already drying pavement and raising fire concerns as gusts build through midday in Des Moines.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, north winds between 16 and 22 mph will increase through the late morning hours, with gusts reaching up to 32 mph. These conditions, combined with dry air, are creating elevated fire weather risk, especially south and west of the metro.
