The City of Milwaukee’s Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee met on March 20, 2026, and advanced several measures for full Council approval. Members supported extending the pause on enforcing the city’s residential deconstruction code until March 1, 2027. They also recommended approval of two new workforce housing developments in the 12th Aldermanic District — the VIA project at 1000 S. 5th Street (82 units with ground-floor retail) and the FORMA project at 412 S. 4th Street (65 units).
The committee further voted to dissolve four Tax Incremental Districts — Nos. 39 (Hilton Hotel), 42 (Midtown), 46 (New Arcade Project), and 51 (Granville Station) — returning a combined over $126 million in tax base to the city’s general levy.
