Armed Robbery At Seabrook Park Shakes New Orleans East

An early-evening hangout at a Seabrook neighborhood park turned into a gunpoint stickup Friday, as New Orleans police say multiple suspects rolled up in three separate cars and robbed a victim before speeding off. According to NOPD, the armed robbery happened around 5:45 p.m. on March 20 in the 7700 block of Chase Street. Investigators say three vehicles pulled into the park, several people climbed out, and the group confronted a victim while armed, demanding their belongings. The victim handed over property, and the suspects took off, as per WDSU.

Detectives say the victim had first been approached by a woman they knew. Officers are now canvassing the area for witnesses and any surveillance video that might help them crack the case.

What police say

According to WDSU, three cars arrived on the scene, several people got out, and the group demanded the victim’s property at gunpoint. The suspects then fled, and as of the latest update, no arrests had been announced. The station reports that as of March 21, 2026, police were still investigating and following up on witness tips.

Seabrook and the bigger picture

Seabrook sits in New Orleans East, a part of the city that has long carried a heavier share of violent crime. The Metropolitan Crime Commission and district-level data have flagged the area for a disproportionate number of serious offenses, including armed robberies.

The commission notes that the NOPD’s 7th District, which covers much of New Orleans East, has shouldered a particularly high burden of homicides and armed robberies compared with other districts, as detailed by the Metropolitan Crime Commission.

Anyone with information about Friday’s robbery is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111 or reach NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070, a contact listed in NOPD public bulletins. Crime Stoppers notes that tips can be submitted anonymously and may be eligible for a cash reward…
