WICHITA, Kan. – Freshman Mackenzie Rooney clinched the series over Florida Atlantic with her walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, lifting the Shockers to a 10-8 win Saturday night at Wilkins Stadium.
Wichita State (18-10, 6-2) led by five entering the top of the seventh only to see the Owls rally for five runs to force extra innings. The win extended Wichita State’s win streak to seven in a row, and gives the Shockers their first-ever series win over Florida Atlantic.
The Shockers pounded out 14 hits, including a career-high four hits for freshman Kinzey Woody. Woody was a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. She is 7-for-7 over the first two games of the series. Ausha Moore was 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBIs and three runs scored…
