A house fire ripped through a single-family home Friday evening in Aurora’s 16000 block of East Asbury Avenue, displacing seven people from two houses and leaving a neighboring home with moderate damage. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, and no injuries were reported. Crews stayed on scene to perform an overhaul while investigators worked to determine what started the fire.
According to Aurora Fire Rescue, firefighters carried out primary and secondary searches of the residence and found no victims while Aurora police and fire crews worked the scene. The department reported moderate fire extension into the adjacent home and said crews were focused on overhaul operations to knock down remaining hot spots.
The department noted that a total of seven residents from the two affected homes were displaced by the fire. Investigators have not released further details and said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
