Firefighter chili cookoff in Troy raises funds, awareness amid volunteer shortages

TROY, NY (WRGB) — Firefighters from 14 departments across the Capital Region faced off in Troy for the 15th annual Firefighter Chili Cookoff, an event aimed at raising money as volunteer fire stations deal with staffing shortages.

The cookoff, held at Brown’s Brewing Company in Troy, drew plenty of opinions on which department served the best bowl, the public favorite, Watervliet’s chili.
