Warriors win with wild finish

The J.F. Webb Warriors broke a 19-game losing streak to the Vikings in softball dating back to 2011 on March 19, with an 8-7 win over South Granville.

The game between the two rivals had more twists and turns than a curvy country road.

The visiting Vikings put one run on the board in the first inning. With two outs, Hayden Meyer tripled and scored on a wild pitch from Natalya Lewis.

The Warriors answered in the home half of the first inning, starting with Lewis drawing a walk from Hailey Whitfield.

With two outs, Britany Mendoza drilled a line shot to center field and Lewis moved to second.

Simone Ovando hit the ball to center field and Lewis was able to score from second base to tie the score.

South Granville took a one run lead in the top of the third inning.

With one out, Avery Wilson singled to center field and then stole second. Wilson moved to third on a wild pitch…
