The long‑quiet Mighty Crab property near Applebee’s still seems stuck in the mud. The old signage is somehow still clinging on—a little more weather‑worn each week—but the real action is the handwritten sign that just appeared in the window announcing an all‑you‑can‑eat concept on the way. The name: Shima—which can mean “island” in Japanese—will be operated by the Mighty Crab team. They expect to open this spring, according to a Mall rep.

Top Pot and more at the Staten Island Mall

Remember when Top Pot BBQ was supposed to bring all‑you‑can‑eat Korean BBQ and hot pot to the Staten Island Mall—complete with glass‑wrapped walls, tabletop grills and bubbling broth pots “where the grill never stops”? The franchise announced its first New York location here back in 2024, signs went up, the website teased it, and now, finally, there’s movement. A rep for the mall property says it will open in the next 45 days…
