Recovery efforts underway after fire at Mississippi Trade Mart

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A fire this weekend at the Mississippi Trade Mart led to canceled events and lost merchandise.

Recovery efforts were underway at the Trade Mart on March 23, 2026. Crews took down the drapery and removed equipment in and out of the building.

The annual Spring Market and the Four Children’s Consignment Sales were canceled. The smell of smoke still lingered in the building, while a thin layer of soot covered the walls and floors.

Vendors suffer losses in fire at Mississippi Trade Mart

“Thank God it was a smoldering fire. It could have burned the whole place down. But what has happened is that you can smell the smell of smoke, of soot has permeated this entire facility. Every vendor booth was practically destroyed because of the sudden smoke,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson…
