BRANDON, Miss. (VDN) — Michelle Jones, a Vicksburg native, has been named the head ninth-grade track and field coach at Brandon High School, where she also serves as an assistant coach for the varsity team.
“I love it over here and everyone is very supportive,” Jones said. “The administration allows you to run your own program, so I’m happy where I’m at.”
Before arriving at Brandon, Jones spent four years as an assistant basketball coach at Vicksburg High School. During her tenure, the Missy Gators reached the playoffs each season, and multiple players signed collegiate scholarships. She also served one season as an assistant track coach.
Jones’ athletic career dates back to her time at Warren Central High School, where she played basketball under Donny Fuller and Jackie Martin-White. She graduated in 2011 before becoming a cheerleader at Hinds Community College…
