A North Aurora man has been charged with two felonies for allegedly shooting at a moving vehicle near a West Chicago elementary school last November.
DuPage County Stateβs Attorney Robert Berlin and West Chicago Chief of Police Colin Fleury announced the 20-year-old defendant has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (one Class X Felony and one Class 1 Felony). He was denied pre-trial release by Judge Joshua Dieden at his First Appearance Court hearing on Thursday. The defendant had been taken into custody on Wednesday.
According to police, on November 7, 2025, at approximately 6:43pm, officers with the West Chicago Police Department responded to the Timberlake Apartment Complex, 1220 South Kings Cross, for a report of shots fired in the parking lot. Following an investigation by the West Chicago Police Department, it is alleged that a black Ford Explorer with two occupants, a mother and her sixteen-year-old child, drove to the north portion of the center parking lot and remained there for approximately ten seconds when a subject, later identified as the defendant, exited from the 1220 Kings Cross building and began walking in the direction of the vehicle, at which time the driver began driving slowly. The defendant started jogging to catch up, and then began shooting a handgun at the rear of the vehicle as it continued to drive in the parking lot.
