Temporarily cooler before widespread record heat returns

Happy Sunday!

Another historic day for New Mexico as record high temperatures were shattered across the state. Temperatures soared into the 70s, 80s and upper 90s in southeast New Mexico, while Carlsbad hit 100 degrees for the second day in a row! Albuquerque was among the many cities that set a new record high for March 22. Today’s high was 86 degrees, which is 21 degrees above normal. The last record was set at 82 degrees in 2017. A couple locations in northeast New Mexico saw a drop in temperatures compared to Saturday. The reason for the cooler temperatures is from a backdoor cold front that entered New Mexico earlier today. Tonight, that cold front has brought gusty winds to Albuquerque and the eastern half of the state…
